Obituary: With much sadness we report the passing of two of our Life Members: 8 January 2010: F.E.Ted Stratford. A Memorial Service for Ted Stratford will be held on Friday 20th August 2010 at 11:00 AM in the village Church, Kenwyn. Kenwyn is about two miles north of Truro on the B3284 road. Ted Stratford was a consummate gentleman - forthright, discreet, polite and elegant. Completely bilingual, Ted`s long career in the Pulp and Paper Industry started in the late 1970`s and lasted through to retirement in 2004 during which time he worked almost exclusively in service of the Landegger family, whom he greatly revered. He worked initially for the Landegger mill machinery manufacturer Black Clawson before moving to their Parsons & Whittemore (P&W) company. P&W was the holding company of the St. Anne's pulp mill in Nackawic, New Brunswick, Canada, now under other ownership, but its Southern USA pulp operation, the Alabama River mill, remains with P&W. Over two decades Ted developed a very strong sales programme for both the St. Anne`s Maple grade pulp into the photo industry and also for the mixed species pulps of their Alabama River mill. ...............................
